You will find a parkland by the sea.  There are generous open spaces for parks, reserves, footpaths, sports facilities.  There is a beautiful beach for one and all to enjoy.  There is estuary and harbour for one and all to enjoy.  In fact, there is something for everyone - even for the pilots - an airfield to fly in and fly out.

Central Pauanui was established some 40 years ago, our Waterways developed within last 15 years with stage three commenced 2009. Pauanui Lakes Resort is established with an international standard 18 hole golf course with residential sections, houses and villas, as well as Clubhouse with pro shop, cafe, bar and restaurant.  More recently sections have been developed at Pauanui Views, which overlooks the waterways, with views to harbour, estuary, ocean and islands. There is an airfield in central Pauanui, which has houses fronting on to, and designated areas to park planes.  For the boat and water sport enthusiasts, there are two boat ramps with ample areas to park vehicles and trailers.

Pauanui has 800 - 900 permanent residents and the resort population expands weekends and holidays with peak numbers through 20th December to 10th January.  For those permanent residents there are many clubs and activities to partake in. There is a school bus for pupils to go to Hikuai School and Thames High School.  For the preschoolers, there is Pauanui playschool.
